What a powerful message. I saw myself in the video. I saw me carrying the weight of past issues that kept me down and kept me from moving forward or from being a better leader. However, I also saw that I have a great Director (coach)who encourages me to do just a little more each and every time. It isn't just my Director that motivates me, but also the other wonderful Directors and Consultants (team players)in our group who are great mentors who encourage not just me, but others to keep going. No, it isn't easy all the time, but the end result is totally worth it(end zone). I WILL be a Director in the future. This means I need to build my strengths, keep going, don't stop until I get there, and be able to encourage my team to be all they can be as well (winners). Lia and Lesley, thank you for your direction, encouragement, and wonderful leadership. I have heard at various meeting the comments, "I want to be just like her". Me too, but in my own crazy way. Alice Ludwig
WOW!! VERY POWERFUL!! Thank you for sharing that. I have had several days where I have been extremely exhausted and have fallen on my face. I did not know how to get up. I know now that when I fall I need to get back up and wipe the dirt off. Fail is no longer going to be in my vocabulary. It is going to FIND A WAY from this point on. I am going to finish strong.
What a powerful message. You fall, you keep getting back up, keep up the strength to get up, because without doing that, you will be going nowhere. And it is so true that it matters how you are going to finish and finish strong. You can't do that if you give up. You may not be where you want to be and you may not have all that you want to have, but be happy with what you have now and you will also be happy when your miracle appears.
Amazing! Wow! So what's my excuse for not doing everything I possibly can? Nothing good, or reasonable, that's for sure! This is really inspiring to me to keep on doing what I need to do - in all areas of my life. Thank you. Elise
WOW - I was so very touched by this. The tears were in my eyes - I get very emotional! Is there any reason why I cannot get back up and finish strong? NONE! I will be using this inspirational video to not give up and stay focused. I have spent too much time thinking about my MaryKay business and not working my business. I will get on track NOW! Lia - just wanted you to know that this pacesetter series is fabulous. You are doing a marvelous job. I am very thankful that my Adoptee Director Pamella Stinnett sent the e-mail to me about your class. Hannelore Evans, Margaret Leonelli Unit
This short video is very inspirational. I got teary eyed and almost cried when the students were hugging Nick. His story and life puts everything into perspective. I feel that I have a lot of obstacles to overcome in life and sometimes I just want to give up. However, if you look at Nick, he has to overcome obstacles all the time and yet he is very happy and upbeat and even embrasses the difficulties that he has in life. Nick could just give up and say that he cannot do anything, instead, he chooses to inspire others and do many incredible activities.
I too got teary eyed watching this video. I thought that Nick was extremely smart and strong. I loved his quote about "It's not the end....it matters how your finish...are you gonna finish Strong? You will find the strength to get back up and finish." That statement hit so true to me. I know there will be times when I fall flat on my face with this business as well as other things in life, but I CAN find the strength to get back up and finish.
Thank you Lia for this video. It was what I needed tonight.
Ok, so I commented on a previous video. No harm in watching, learning, and being motivated by more than one. Right?!! I have seen this video a couple of other times, and each time I cry, especially when I hear how he wanted to end his life at just 8 years old and when the kids hug him. And then I ask myself, WHY am I so hard on myself when I get down and discouraged. Because I didn't have the courage to do this or that? Why are you beating yourself up? Why are you allowing yourself to stay in this negative area? Get off your butt, stand tall (ok, so I am already tall), and get back out there and talk to people. This is a terrific reminder that when you do fall on your face, and there will be those times, you can't stay there. Not only will you not move, but you won't move forward, move up or stand up. You will only see what's in front of you. Staying down only allows you to see what is directly in front of you (the ground, dirt, maybe some grass, or the carpet). When you get up you see the beauty around you. You see colors, you see people, you see yourself. You learn why you fell and how good it feels to get back up. How good it feels to finish what you started. Nick is another one of my hero's. Thank you for sharing this video.
I just love Nick's attitude. How many times do we complain and REALLY...what we are complaining about is so trivial. We are so blessed in our lives. This video reminds me that I need to stop making excuses- I have been so blessed and need to just get back up and keep going even if it means picking myself up over and over again. JUST KEEP GOING!
Wow, what an inspiring clip. I loved this so much I had to share it on my facebook account before I could come back to comment. How many times do I feel defeated and not want to get back up. I'll think twice or maybe three times next time I want to give up!
Okay.. so anyone who knows me knows that there is no way I would make it through that video without tears. Nick is much like the students I work with in my non-profit. They are a rare group of individuals who choose to keep climbing through all the adversity they encounter when the easy thing would be to give up. I am reminded daily of the "what it could be". I believe that as MK women we are part of a rare group as well. We all know that there will be challenges in our lives but because we surround ourselves with powerful positive mentors we are ready to face them head on. I feel like I connect with Nick in understanding that you always need to try one more time because that one time may be your success. While I have not been faced with the challenges that Nick has I do feel that I have lived my life in much the same way. While I am competitive by nature and I will find a way to do things that people tell me I can't do, I also am a firm believer that an unsuccessful attempt (not failure) only means that it was not meant to work in that way or at that time. I just need to try again later or approach it from a different angle. I believe this for my business as well. An example I have is when I went into car qualification the first time. I truly believe that god felt I was not ready for this and my focus was shifted. I was able to accomplish many things over the months I stepped back from by business and spent some needed time with my family. When I chose to begin working my business again in September I felt empowered and that god was telling me that this is my time to work. From this I have set some very big (but very attainable) goals for myself. I hope that all of you take this message from Nick to heart: "It's about how you finish".
Again, I had originally posted this under voucher one without realizing it needed to be somewhere else, I'm trying to copy and paste them so they will all be in the right spot, and I'm also copying and pasting the date as proof. Sorry about the confusion Jaime Tisdel said... I just watched the video, and it was really great. He inspires, you don't fail unless when you fall you don't get back up again, just don't quit, there's always a way. He was able to turn his disadvantage to an advantage, and really inspire people to keep going no matter what happens, just don't quit, or stay down. To watch him get back up physically, also gives you an emotional connection to the difficulties we face in life, just simply get back up and really the only way you fail is by staying down and not getting up
Oh man, do I feel like a little whiner. I can't believe how badly I feel about trivial stuff. I really do appreciate little eye openers like this video because they help me put things back into perspective. Seeing the kids faces as they hugged him broke my heart. What an amazing thing to experience at such a young age...before a lot of conditioning sets in. We are all blessed no matter how bad things may seem at the present moment in time.
Although I've seen this clip before it still inspires me. I really needed to see it again because I have to admit, I forget to put things into perspective. Don't give up, don't give up, DON'T EVER GIVE UP.
What am amazing attitude and outlook on life Nick has given his circumstances. I had my 4 year old watch the video with me and what an amazing opportunity I had as a mom to teach her a life lesson while learning one myself. Life is about choices, thanks to Jesus and the sacrifice His life was for us. I am constantly telling my kids & myself that we can choose our attitudes, choose our actions, choose how we are going to respond to situations and we can choose to respond negatively or we can choose to respond positively. I love that although Nick went through a negative period in his life when we was probably bitter and angry and didn't want to go on, he made a choice. He choose to change his attitude, change his response and change his actions. He chose to take what God had given him and turn it into something that praises God and ministers to so many people. It's a great reminder that #1, most of us don't have a clue what real struggles are and often get discouraged over things that can be so trivial. #2 We all have things that can beat us & knock us down, but we all have a choice. We can stay down and feel sorry for ourselves or GET UP and move on! Loved it, thanks for sharing.
I think that there are so many of us who struggle like Nick in some way or another. We may have all of our limbs, but that obsticle of his life he has much accepted....and instead of it making him angry and bitter (like he stated that he had been) he has taken that energy, turned it into somthing poistive and uses that to inspire other people. WOW BEEN THERE DONE THAT!!!! I felt that I could relate more than some of you may know...but I can watch that video and not see a man with no arms or legs, but a man that shines beauty and derserves admoration for the attitude that he portrays. Life is what you make of it...so make it beautiful...you never know who's life you may be changing.???
How small my problems seem. No more complaining, just do it! God has given me what I need and now only I can make it work. I have been given a great opportunity.

(Sharon Turley) I feel so blessed to have all the things I need in life, yet sometimes I still complain. Yet, Nick stays positive even though he has plenty of reasons to complain, and he teaches others to be thankful for what they have. He teaches us that we haven't failed unless we quit! And to keep getting up each time you fall.
This was so powerfull and inspiring to start a new week with such grace and love for others. Keep on going as we all hit a wall at times, be gratefull for all that we have everyday!
day #3.. monday... why are you in business for yourself?
I am in business for myself because I enjoy the Flexability and Freedom to have a family schedule then a business schedule wrapped around it. To give my children... myself, their mother back. Be able to be invovled in school events and sports. To be able to raise my baby in our home, and my other three children be there when they get home from school. To also have the Freedom of Choice and Time.
I've seen this video a few times in the past, and it's always been a nice reminder that I should be living, loving, experiencing, sharing and working without taking any of it for granted. I always thought that I was afraid of success and the work that's involved in it. But I think it's really just a fear of failure and if I try my best and I fall, everyone will see and judge. I'm hoping to lose that mentality on my MK journey and I'm going to try to keep Nick and many others that have overcome huge obstacles in their life, in the forefront of my brain and visit it often to remind myself and to carry on! Lisa Feuerborn ~ Lia Carta Unit
OMG- what an awesome video! I am crying my eyes out because it speaks such volumes to what I have been going through and the thing that I struggle with most-getting back up and not just giving up! Love you for this! Now I have a physical illustration that will provide a daily attitude check! -Katrina
So the message I got from this is simply this: Get back UP!! Don't ever lose hope, and don't quit. Always get back UP!! Woo hoo! It really puts things in perspective to see the issues that other people face. Thank you for the video Lia! :-)
Wow... what an AWESOME clip!! This dude is AMAZING!! If ever anyone had something to complain & be negative about... it would be him. But instead he has such an incredible outlook on life. What a lesson for me. IF THERE IS A WILL... THERE IS A WAY!! I have the will... I will find a way!! Thank you for sharing.
What I got out of this is no matter what life throws you, never give up....get back up, brush yourself off and move forward. Makes all the things in my life seem so petty. Thanks for sharing :)
My husband watched this with me and first thing he said was "you're gonna cry." I did. It's because it makes me realize how truly blessed I am, even in the face of challenges or obstacles that seem too big too handle. I know God equips us with the strength to handle whatever comes our way. This video just helps remind us... Thanks.
He's an inspiration, no doubt. What I got from this video is something I've been hearing a lot lately, the only way you will fail is if you give up. I truly believe this. My goals are becoming more and more attainable because I am more and more willing to put in the work to get there. In all aspects of my life I am realizing goals and like Lesley was saying, I can see how Mary Kay is like a dojo, practice within the safety and support of all of the wonderful women cheering each other on, then apply those skills to the rest of your life.
I have seen this clip before, and it still amazes and inspires me. There are so many times where it's easier to say "I can't" or "it's harder for me......". It's so much safer not to try, than to take a leap of faith. In life there are times where we will fall. And there are times where we will fly. Nick didn't figure out a way around his obstacle, he went through it.
Wow! I watched this on Saturday night and thought about it all weekend! I just watched again. So many powerful points. God is amazing. I can't believe how many trivial things I stress over! Nick gives me inspiration to get up, it's not impossible, what attitude do I have? I definetely don't have Nick's!!That is what we should strive for.
WOW...and to think about all the things that i have complained about this week seem so silly. This was very powerful lia. Now i know that through god...all things are possible.
